1. How do I order a cake?
To start the order process, please send an email to denisemakescakes@gmail.com containing all of the following information:
• The date of your event.
• The occasion (birthday, wedding, shower, etc.).
• How many people you will need to serve.
• Your daytime phone number.
• Your email address.
• The event location, delivery address and delivery time.
• An idea of what kind of cake design/decorations you are looking for.
• Flavor of cake.
• How did you hear about us?
2. How much do your cakes cost?
Due to the variety of cakes that we offer, we do not have a standard price list. Cakes are priced per serving and there is a 25 serving minimum. Our cakes are typically priced individually, based on the complexity of the design, as well as the type of cake desired.
3. Do you have a minimum order?
Yes, we currently have a 25 serving/$200 minimum order on cakes. We will no longer be offering cupcakes, cookies, and cake pops as stand alone items. If you wish to order cupcakes, cookies, or cake pops it must be done in conjunction with a minimum cake order. As always, there is a 1 dozen minimum for each of these items.
Bulk orders of 100 or more may be considered on a case by case basis.
4. How far in advance do I need to order?
The more time the better – especially for wedding cakes. The minimum amount of
time that we require is one week’s notice.
5. Do you ship cakes?
At this time, we do not ship cakes.
6. Is there a deposit required on my order?
Yes, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required on ALL orders to reserve the date of the event. We must receive the balance by the due date indicated on the contract or contract is null and void, and deposit will not be refunded.
One week before the event date is the last date to make changes to the cake. Any changes requested after this date cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges.
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards.
Here are the link to the Cake Contract.
7. What if I have to cancel my order?
The initial deposit of 50% is non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, cakes canceled prior to two weeks will be refunded. Orders canceled with less than one weeks notice will incur the FULL cost of the invoice.
8. Do you offer private tastings? Do they cost anything?
We do offer private tastings for wedding cakes and larger event cakes. Tastings allow you to sample three different cake flavors paired up with three frostings or filling flavors.
If a tasting is done prior to officially booking your wedding cake or large event cake, the cost is $50. If you decide to book the cake with us, you will receive a $50 credit towards your order. Cakes under $400 will not receive the $50 tasting credit off of their order.
Also, we will bring the samples to you! Please inquire about at home tastings.
9. Do you deliver? Where are you located?
Due to the delicate nature of our cakes, we are currently only offering delivery. Additional fees will apply. The delivery free is determined by the distance traveled and the level of difficulty of the set-up. We are conveniently located in Queens and serve the NYC metropolitan area.
10. How big is a serving?
A typical serving for a cake is 1” x 2” x height of cake. Cake height will vary from cake to cake depending upon design.
11. What if there are special requirements for wedding cakes?
Flowers – We are more than willing to decorate your cake with fresh flowers upon delivery. If you have a specific layout, you should give us a sketch of exact placement. Flowers for the cake, table (or anywhere else) need to be provided by your florist. If flowers need to be purchased by DeniseMakesCakes, the price of the flowers will be included in your contracted price. Please be certain to provide examples of the specific colors and types of flowers you want on your cake. We will also be glad to work with your florist directly to ensure that everything matches. You acknowledge that fresh flowers are not a food product, and may contain pesticides, insects, dirt, or other contaminants.
Toppers can be given to DeniseMakesCakes one week before your wedding or event. Cake toppers that are too heavy or not secured properly may cause damage to your cake. If any party, other than a DeniseMakesCakes employee adds any decoration to a cake, we are not responsible for damage to the topper or to the cake.
12. Will my cake be photographed?
We always photograph our cakes and we reserve the right to use any photographs for display or promotion without compensation to you.
